The National Youth Football Committee (NYFC) has shared in Surestream Academy’s glory through its FMB Under-20 League,  which contributed 16 players to the team that was crowned Nsejjere Premier Division champions on Sunday.

During a countrywide scouting mission, Surestream spotted goalkeeper Brightone Munthali from Moyale Barracks Youth, Isaac Mwale and captain Ernest Tambe were signed from Namiwawa; Trevor Kalema and Mark Fodya are, just like Willie Saenda and Peter Msowoya, products of the league’s Griffin Young Stars.

Other Surestream players recruited from FMB leagues are Edwin Carols and Simeon Singa from Chitawira Rangers.

Mike Mkwate, Damiano Kunje and Levison Maganizo from Sporting Lisbon; Timothy Govati (Ndirande Icons), Chifundo Chimaimba and Teleleni Nzeru (Black Stars) and Clifford Chipala (Ngwalamba FC).

NYFC  committee  member Chimango Munthali and vice-general secretary Thokozani Chimbali confirmed the league’s contribution of the players to Surestream.

“As National Youth Football Committee we are so proud of Surestream’s earning of back-to-back promotion from Division One to Premier and the Super League,” said Chimbali.

Surestream technical director Peter Mponda on Thursday admitted that they scouted most of the players from the FMB League and polished them up.

“The players had the talent, but this could not come to the fore due to limitation of equipment. You have teams using just one ball and this affects player development,” Mponda noted.

The Malawi Under-20 goalkeeper Munthali confirmed that he played for Moyale Youth for two seasons and “it was only after joining Surestream that I became focused on my career.

At Moyale, it was more about playing for fun.”
