The last-four encounters will see defending champions Fish Eagles of Mzuzu taking on Dedza Police Youth and Mangochi Police Reserves facing the hosts Disciples FC. The victors will tussle in the ultimate finale that will follow a friendly match between FMB Socials and Southern Region (SR) Socials, a side comprising journalists and sports administrators.

“Zomba will be immersed in great football feast on Saturday and people should come in their great numbers to witness this historic event,” said FMB head of marketing Sylvia Nankwenya-Mataka.

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) chairperson Mabvuto Missi said the competition, which is contested by teams from Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Karonga, Mchinji, Mangochi and Dedza districts, has been fantastic this year.

“It is interesting to note that for the first time in FMB football history, no team from Blantyre and Lilongwe has made it into the national stage,” he said.

According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka, national champions will receive K750 000 ($1,271.60) while runners-up will get K500 000 ($847.73) on top of receiving a set of uniform. n
