Universal Industries Limited is set to make Big Bullets sensation Gabadinho Mhango as the company’s Gluco Power biscuits ambassador.
Universal national sales manager Robleen Kamanga on Monday said the company was waiting for Mhango and his guardian’s nod before signing a long-term contract.
“We will then draw obligations on how we expect him to reposition himself with our brand. Gluco Power has been associated with football for decades. Gluco’s appeal on people is equal to that on Gaba,†said Kamanga.
Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire confirmed the development, adding that the talks were at personal level between Mhango and Universal.
The previous Gluco Power ambassador was former Malawi football great, the late Clifton Msiya. Universal also has netball star Mwawi Kumwenda as Frooty Juice ambassador.
Many companies across the world use sports stars to promote products. Didier Drogba is associated with Samsung electronic gadgets.
