It doesn’t get sweeter than this.

The Flames forward yesterday said he felt like flying after scoring against Celtic considering the circumstances under which he left the team. Wits won the match 2-1 to go third with 13 points from five games, just a point behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who have played two games more.

Gabadinho had his contract terminated last year at Celtic after he signed a pre-contract with Wits.

“I was happy to score yesterday, very happy. Not that I had a grudge against Celtic, but I had a point to prove,” he said in an interview yesterday.

Wits remain unbeaten this season with four wins and a draw from their five league games played to date, and are looking like serious title contenders.

Thabang Monare opened the scoring after just four minutes, stooping low to head in Elias Pelembe’s swinging free-kick from close range, totally unmarked.

However, just before the half-hour mark the home side drew level after another Malawian forward—Atusaye Nyondo—opened his Celtic scoring account by burying a shot into the bottom-left corner, according to Kickoff.com.

Gabadinho, who is enjoying a rich vein of form, netted the winning goal in the 50th minute after exchanging passes with Eleazar Rodgers. n
