GBV survivors get soft loans
Rural Development Support Trust has supported gender-based violence (GBV) survivors in Senior Chief Mlolo in Nsanje with soft loans.
In an interview, the organisation’s programme officer Lumbiwe Zimba said they trained the survivors on gender-related laws and entrepreneurship.
She said “We are targeting GBV survivors re-admitted to school and those who suffered from fistula,” she said.
One of the mentees under the organisation’s safe space initiative, Annie Wilord, said the loan will enable her start a small-scale business.
Group village head Kalonga said the initiative has encouraged girls to go back to school.
Nsanje District Council chairperson Rose Makiyi asked other organisations to scale up GBV fight in the district.
The organisation is implementing a three-year Spotlight Initiative Programme with funding from the European Union.
