Ghana to jet in Malawi on eve of game

Ghana’s Black Stars are expected to arrive in Malawi on Friday, just a day before the decisive 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Flames.

According to FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, the West Africans are expected to travel on a Kenya Airways plane from Nairobi. They will arrive at about 9.35am through the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.

He also said as per rules, the Ghanaians will get the feel of the match venue Civo Stadium.

The team has made arrangements to camp at Golden Peacock Hotel.

Officiating team

Meanwhile, FAM has announced that Sudanese referee Khalid Abdul Rahman will officiate the match and will be assisted by compatriots Waleed Ahmedali and Idam Hamid Mohamed while Hassam Ada Mahmed will be the fourth official. The match commissioner will be Ian McLeod from South Africa.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 2.30pm local time.

Nyirenda said FAM gate management for the match will be outsourced.

He also said there will be a meeting Wednesday and Friday and high on the agenda will be security measures.

CAF security officer Nicholas Musonye is also expected within the week to inspect the stadium.
