Good Neighbors gives K95m drugs to govt

Good Neighbors International, an international humanitarian and developmental organisation, yesterday donated drugs to seven government rural health facilities in Lilongwe.

The symbolic presentation of the drugs, worth $238 043 (about K95 million), took place at Chiwoza Health Centre, a facility which was also constructed by Good Neighbors and handed over to government last year.

Some of the drugs presented include oral rehydration solutions (ORS), amoxycilin, benzyl benzoate, doxycycline and co-trimaxazole tablets.

Good Neighbors (Malawi) operations manager Gabriel Chunga said they received the drugs from their headquarters in South Korea as part of the organisation’s key interventions in child health and sanitation.

Rose Chikumbe, a government pharmacist, described the donation as timely, especially coming at a time when the Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) has insufficient drugs to carter for public health facilities in the country.
