“We used the Fast5 format in the last two editions because such arrangement helped the Malawi Queens to prepare well for the Fast5 World Netball Series in New Zealand. But now, that format will be of no importance since that international is not there event this year,” Nyirenda said.

He added that following the change of format, GOtv Netball Champions League has incorporated best Northern Region teams that has been necessitated by their recent launching of GOtv in Mzuzu City.

According to GOtv country sales manager Vyness Simbi, the development will also call for many other changes such as increased sponsorship, adjustment of prize money and the duration of the competition.

The last two editions of the competition were participated by top three Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) teams Complex Tigresses, Diamonds and MTL Queens alongside their Central Region counterparts Blue Eagles Sisters, Civonets and Mafco. The event was played in two months with the ultimate champions getting K1.5 million prize.

Apart from announcing the format change and the addition of the teams, Multichoice also unveiled Malawi Queens and Tigresses’ shooter Sindi Simtowe as GOtv brand ambassador for this year.
