Speaking at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe after a week-long tour of tourism establishments and meetings with tourism operators in the Central Region, Mhango said the country’s hotel standards are good and suitable for international tourists.

“I want to promise the tourism operators in the country that my ministry will do whatever it takes to make the industry grow. Some of the challenges being faced now will be dealt with as soon as possible to accommodate the growth of the industry,” he said.

“We will make sure that skilled human resources are available in the country, the ministry will make sure that the industry only employs experts from outside the country where there is a need like the issue of chefs.”

Crossroads Hotel general manager Rodney Goneso said they wanted government’s increased involvement in the industry for its growth.
