Group gives dental compressor to Chilomoni Health Centre
Blantyre-based non-governmental organisation Dzuka Chilomoni has handed over a dental compressor valued at K230 000 to Chilomoni Health Centre.
In an interview on Wednesday after handing over the equipment, the organisaiton’s founder Maliko Chikaonga said they want to alleviate the challenge the health centre faces when treating patients with dental problems.
He said: “As Dzuka Chilomoni, we thought that it is important to do something for our community.
“We learnt that the health centre was facing challenges in that area and, as members of the community, we did not want to wait for government.”
Chilomoni Health Centre in-charge Hawa Mtitimila commended the organisation for the timely assistance, saying it will ease operational challenges at the facility.
She said: “It was tough to work as we had no compressor for treating patients with dental problems.
“We would also like to ask other well-wishers to help us with maternity shelter, a fence and other equipment to enable us function properly.”
A dental air compressor pressurises atmospheric air for use in dental procedures.
Dzuka Chilomoni is grouping comprising Malawians living in Malawi, South Africa and United States of America.
