Hoops displace Kuzisaka in veteran’s league

Hoops have displaced Kuzisaka at the top with a single point in the Central Zone Basketball veterans league.

Hoops beat Premium Tama 46-27at Civo Court on Sunday whereas Kuzisaka lost 21-17 at the hands of RBM Bullions.

The new leaders deserved the triumph against Premium Tama who featured one female player, Marriam Mhango. Jonathan Shaba inspired the victory after posting highest points (36) and was a threat to Tama’s defence of William Munthali, Robert Tembo and Timothy Sitima.

Hoops, who featured Cezobal chairperson Kingsley Gwaza, were leading 25-16 at the second quarter break. They won the first quarter 19-7.

Premium Tama organised themselves in the third quarter in an attempt to upset the tables.

Ian Jumbe, Robert Tembo and Norman Patrick combined well and managed to balance the affairs that saw both teams posting eight baskets each.

Hoops now top the table with 11 points from six games whereas Kuzisaka, on second position, have 10 points from the same number of games.

RBM Bullions are third, on nine points.

In the men’s league, Disciples, Blazers and Mimbulu bagged full points after thrashing Central Knights, Cougars and Bayonets 62-57, 85-82 and 60-34 respectively. In the women’s league, which had one game, Lady Bayonets beat Lady Dynamites 66-32.

Trojans are at top with 25 points from 14 games in the men’s league whereas ABC Lions are trailing on a two-point gap.

Defending champions Mimbulu and Disciples, who are tied at 21-points are on third and fourth position respectively.

Lady Bayonets are reigning in the women’s league with 16 points from eight games followed by Capital Clippers on 13 points. Lady Dynamites are third on nine points.
