Inter-Club 20-overs Cricket Tournament has taken month-long break in respect of Muslims’ observation of the Ramadan period, the competition’s organising chairperson Saeed Limdawala has said.

This comes after four games were played on Sunday at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) and Oriental Cricket Club (OCC).MCU-cricket

“As you know, most of our cricketers are from the Islamic faith and they have to go on holiday during this month of Ramadan. We are expected to resume our games at the end of the fasting period on July 26,” said Limdawala.

During last weekend’s encounters, MSC Orange and Anchor Silver earned similar resounding victories at MSC and OCC respectively. The outfits beat their respective opponents MSC Black and MSC Green in just 10.1-overs.

MSC Black sweated in the entire 20-overs to make a meagre 69-run all-out before Orange easily made those runs with 9.9-overs to play.

At the OCC, Anchor Silver secured their victory in similar fashion after cancelling out MSC Green’s 130-runs, thanks to excellent individual skills by AasifRustam, who contributed 77 runs with just 34 balls.

In other games, MSC Gold Fattani overcame MSC Grey by four runs after making 150 runs in 20-overs whereas MSC White outclassed MSC Purple with 126 runs in 15.4-overs. Aabid Khan deserved the credit for the 49 runs he put into White’s victory.
