Is homosexuality natural?

Homosexuality is the sexual activity between persons of the same sex embracing both the orientation and the behaviour. It consists in the general propensity towards members of the same sex and is found in both males (gays) and females (lesbians). There are different aspects of homosexuality depending on how it is done. Sodomy is the first type.

This is the canal copulation by males where by the anus is taken to imitate the female organ (read again the female organ). Fellatio -introduction of the penis of one man into the mouth of the other in which case the mouth would stand for the female sexual organ (again the female sexual organ). In women, homosexuality is called lesbianism or sapphic love where an artificial male organ is often used (again, artificial male organ).

Now the question is: Is homosexuality natural?

In the first place, homosexuals claim that they are born that way and therefore their homosexual orientation is natural. I understand a natural thing as that which repeatedly, universally and generally happens in nature. Looking at the anatomy of human beings or animals in general, one is either male or female.

By this virtue, people are born so for a purpose which is to supplement each other. So, if it happens that one is born with genes or hormones of the opposite sex then it is an accident of nature. As such, we cannot say that it is natural. In this case, homosexuality cannot be considered as natural for it is a result of accidents of nature.

Again, by looking carefully at the human anatomy, one can see how sexual parts of a man and a woman were designed to fit each other perfectly. Biology also explains that hormones and fluids of males and females facilitate sexual pleasure such that they complement in the act. In clear terms, the bodies of human beings are designed for heterosexual activity.

As such, those who claim that they do not have a desire for sex with members of the opposite sex are committing a “crime against nature”

In addition, the result of the universal sexual act of the heterosexuals in both animals and human beings is procreation and satisfaction of pleasure. Contrary to this, homosexuals only remain at fulfilling pleasures and exclude the other result, procreation. In this case, homosexuality is against nature in such a way that it does not transmit life.

Lastly, in regard to the idea of procreation, one can see that homosexuality can lead to extinction of the human species. This is so because they do not transmit life. However, homosexuals cannot be likened to infertile couples who do not procreate. But the later, than the former, do not have potency to procreate because of conditions beyond their control.

As such, we can call it accident of nature. On the other hand, homosexuals do not procreate because they (willingly) do not involve the other part in the procreation puzzle.

The natural propensity that exists in man and woman towards each other is something that cannot be overlooked. The human anatomy itself is best reason to this. A philosopher, Charles Socarides said: “Human beings are born with natural capacity for heterosexual desire.”

Thus, which is in our nature is the heterosexual sexual desire. Therefore, failure to recognise this natural harmony is to deliberately deny the truth of why the opposite sexes exist in nature.

Homosexuality is unnatural to the human beings because it is contrary to the natural law. So, any occurrences or tendencies to homosexuality are to be taken as perversions from the normal. As such, homosexuality should not be legalised in our society because it is abnormal.- The author lives in Zomba and is writing in his personal capacity.
