NWFA general secretary Lina Mtegha said the draw for the competition will be conducted on July 10, but kick-off is on July 18.

“At district level, kick-off is on July 18 and the finals are on August 8 in all the districts. Regional finals have been slated for August 22 and the finals at national level will be on September 12 and 13.” she said.

NWFA president Severia Chalira has since appealed for clubs to put up strong teams because the tournament will also be used for the national director to identify more players to be considered for national duty.

“We have just revived the women national football team. Such tournaments as the Fifa/FAM Cup is a platform where more players can be identified. I appeal to clubs to scout diligently for talent at district and also regional levels. We need to have a strong reservoir where we can pull talent for the national team,” said Chalira.

She also hailed FAM and Fifa for making the competition possible this year.
