Revitalised Flames midfield star Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo is tipped to return to South Africa next season, where he is linked with a move to Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kamwendo is reported to have met the club’s delegation that was led by chief scout Ian Gorowa soon after Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Blantyre.

However, both Kamwendo and Sundowns scout Ernest ‘Wire’ Mtawali refused to comment on the issue on Wednesday.

“I cannot comment anything on that. For now, my focus is on Saturday’s [2013 Africa Cup of Nations] qualifier against Chad,” said Kamwendo.

Mtawali also kept a tight lid on the matter saying: “If we are going to sign any player, then our public relations office will definitely issue a statement.”

Kamwendo played for reigning South African champions Orlando Pirates from 2007 to 2011 before he moved to Vasco da Gama on loan. He agreed to a mutual termination of his contract with the Buccaneers the same year and rejoined Wanderers.
