Kanjedza Islamic Sisters on Saturday celebrated 26 years of running Dawah Ministry in the country.

The celebration was held under the theme “Let there arise out of you a group of people, invite to all that is good, enjoy what is right and forbid what is wrong”.

During the ceremony that took place at Mpingwe Muslims Club in Limbe, Sidik Mia Foundation donated a minibus to the group to assist them in their operations.

Mia also donated K2 million (US$4 784) cash to assist the sisters.

Secretary of the group, Jamila Lire, commended the foundation for the gesture, saying it will ease transport woes they had been facing since the organisation was established.

She also thanked the foundation for sponsoring their trip to Zambia last year, where they interacted with their fellow Dawah women on how to promote the ministry.

“Mia sponsored our trip to Zambia. He also has given us a minibus and as if that is not enough, he has given us K2 million for our operations, among others,” said Lire.

She urged Mia and the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) chairperson Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad to work hard to promote the religion in the country.

Mia, who is the vice-chairperson of MAM, urged all Muslim organisations to support groups that are promoting the Islamic religion.

“We need vibrant groups that have the welfare of sheikhs and all vulnerable Muslims in the country at heart so that they also benefit religiously.

“We know there are some NGOs who are soliciting funds outside the country in the name of Islamic religion, but end up enriching themselves This must stop forthwith, failing which, we will be forced to ask their donors to stop sponsoring them,” said Mia.
