Kanyenda extends City contract

Flames veteran striker Esau Kanyenda has extended his contract with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Polokwane City.
Kanyenda said he was excited to be among the few players who have been with the team since its promotion from the First Division some two seasons ago.

“It’s nice as it shows that I am doing something important to this team even though I haven’t been scoring regularly of late. As you know, I am among only four surviving players who have been with the team since its time in the First Division,” he said.
Kanyenda managed some four league goals last season when City finished on 10th position on the 16-member log table.
Earlier, some teams from Mozambique were tempting Kanyenda with good offers so that he could sign for them. But Kanyenda says he feels at home in Polokwane.
Meanwhile, Harry Nyirenda’s Black Leopards are stepping close to Premiership promotion after beating Jomo Cosmos 2-0 at the weekend. Next for Leopards is a game against Moroka Swallows on Wednesday.
The overall winner of the home and away play-offs will get promotion. Leopards finished second in the First Division and they are battling for a spot in the top league created by the relegation of Amazulu.
