Trans World Radio (TWR) Malawi confirmed its new national director Victor Kaonga recently at Capital City Baptist Church in Lilongwe following Board’s appointment in January 2011.

Kaonga becomes the fourth National Director since 1985. He served as operations director and acting national director from February 2010 to January 2011.

In charging Kaonga to serve, chairperson of the Evangelical Association of Malawi who is also president of the Malawi Assemblies of God Rev Dr Lazarus Chakwera among others advised Kaonga to serve God with diligence, excellence and integrity.

“I charge you to pursue the vision, mission and values of Trans World Radio with clarity, concentration and consistency, and take TWR Malawi to a level of ministry success never experienced before to the glory of God,” said Chakwera.

In his acceptance speech Kaonga said he was humbled that the board trusted him with the leadership for TWR Malawi and called on the church and staff to support TWR Malawi so that it is sustainable.

Kaonga recalled tuning in for the first time to TWR Manzini Swaziland on Friday morning, 30th July 1989 while working with his dad on the roads of Viphya North in Rumphi. He became a keen listener and while a student in Zomba, he offered to volunteer in some services for TWR in 1995.

Born with a twin sister Mary on 26th October 1972, Victor grew up with great interest in radio. While at Rumphi Secondary School, he committed his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in March 1990.

Married to Thembi, they have three girls (Nayumo, Sayiwe, Angana) and a boy (Weyuyo).

He hosts a few programmes on air notably Our Guest/Mlendo Wathu, Utumiki Wosayiwalika, Joy in the Morning/Chimwemwe Mmawa and Bawoli Bane which he co-hosts with his wife.
