CCAP Blantyre Synod Reverend Gertrude Kapuma has been elected dean of studies at the Zomba Theological College, replacing Reverend Takhuze Saul Chitsulo who has gone for PhD studies at the University of Natal in South Africa.

Senior lecturer at the theological college, who is also the former general secretary for the synod, the Very Reverend Silas Ncozana said Kapuma would be deputised by Reverend Dr Todd Statham from Canada.

Ncozana described Kapuma as a stable and able academic who is good at theology.

“Reverend Kapuma has already assumed the post of dean of studies. She was once a director at Chigodi Women’s Lay Centre,” said Ncozana.

He also said Kapuma was in the vineyard discussions about women’s role in Blantyre Synod and was also the first woman to be ordained minister at Blantyre Synod.
