Big Bullets new signing Amos Khamula is still embroiled in controversy after his clearance by Green Hawks was challenged by Support Battalion.

Khamula, who was the second top goal scorer in the Chipiku Central Region (CRFA) Premier League last season, played for Support Battalion last season but went to Big Bullets as Green Hoax player.

Support Battalion chairperson Omega Kondowe said Khamula played for Support Battalion for two seasons and no team came forward to claim that he was their player.

“We spotted Khamula when he came for trials at Parachute Battalion. He failed the trials and then came to us. He told us that he was a free agent. We went ahead to consult CRFA. We then registered him as our player. He has been with us for two seasons,” said Kondowe.

He said they got surprised that the player played for Big Bullets against Mzuni FC and Moyale in the first-round of the TNM.

“We wrote Sulom immediately to complain that Bullets have registered our player without consent. We are still waiting for action from Sulom. We have submitted a card to Sulom as evidence that the player is ours,” said Kondowe in an interview from Mvera, Dowa.

Sulom treasurer Tiya Somba -Banda confirmed that the issue of Khamula is far from being resolved

“We have referred his issue to Football Association of Malawi [FAM] as there is a lot of discrepancies concerning his transfer. We have a signed document indicating that the player had a running contract with Green Hawks until April, 2015.

“At the same time, Support Battalion gave us a card from Central Region Football Association in which the player is registered as theirs. There are no records to indicate that the player was cleared to play for Support Battalion,” said Somba-Banda.

FAM officer responsible for player transfer Casper Jangale said they are yet to have a decision on Khamula as of yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mzuni United and Moyale Barracks want Sulom to forfeit points against Bullets for featuring a Support Battalion player in a Super League match.
