Kineo, AidFest drop debut EP

Rising music duo Kineo and AidFest has released its debut Extended Play (EP) titled Ulendo, a year after their breakthrough.

The Blantyre-based duo has seen their star rise remarkably since their debut single Two Two last year.

Kineo and AidFest’s success earned them a record deal with promotion stable, Madness Entertainment.

The breakthrough single was capped by a remix which featured singer and composer Kell Kay and it is one of the lead singles from the 10-track EP alongside the recently released Yekha.

Kineo and AidFest are soaring high

It maintained faith in the Afro-dance genre as evidenced in their recent release Yekha.

The unique narrative in the song has further added an exciting dimension to the composition, currently enjoying airplay in the clubs and on radio stations.

“Mkazi yu ndiwagulu, ali ndi akazi chimulu, koma akamabwera kwathu, amabwera yekhaaa!”… goes the song in part.

In an interview yesterday, Madness Entertainment assistant manager Review Wasema said the EP release represents growth and places them at an advantageous position going forward.

“The title of the EP is Ulendo and that in itself captures their position. They are on a continuous journey. They have done a lot from what they were last year to where they are now. As management, we will harness their effort as we strive to elevate them to the next level,” he said.

In a separate interview, Kineo paid tribute to the support they have received since they emerged on the scene.

He said: “We are excited with this feat. It represents the hard work we have put in from the first day. We have learnt from the feedback we have been accorded.”

Other songs in the EP include Yendabe, Mpweche, Golo Golo, 10 pa 10 and  Ndinyamuleni.

It has been produced by Staffa Awosh, BFB, Kwemo, Yoba and was released on Wednesday.
