King’s Ladies FC secure sponsorship

King’s Ladies women football team has signed a year-long sponsorship deal with Ndirande Pharmacy.

During the signing ceremony of the deal in Ndirande Township in Blantyre on Tuesday, the Pharmacy’s managing director Tazz Chikowi said his firm has offered 20 percent discount on the medicine the team’s players and their parents will be buying from their two drug store branches.

He added that they will be offering free first aid kits to the club until the expiry of the contract in August 2014.

“The discount is for 50 people including the players and their parents. Each of them will have a discount card which they will be showing at our Ndirande branch and the other one called Soche East Drug Store in Zingwangwa Township,” Chikowi said.

He said his firm decided to sponsor the team after noting the strides it has made since formation last year when they emerged Blantyre District champions of the Presidential Championships and became winner of the Aaron Sangala Trophy in Ndirande few months ago.

On his part, while describing medicine as one of the most important tool in sports, the team’s coach Joseph Store, who was accompanied by his captain Diana Kaunda at the ceremony, said they will allow the Pharmacy to put its logo on their jerseys.

“We would like to appreciate their support in a special way. Gone are the days when only the teams benefitted from the sponsorships, the companies should reap the benefits as well and that should be achieved through the promotion of their products on our jerseys,” he said.
