Korean professional archery instructors Park Young Sook and Dong Sen Suk have donated a set of modern desktop computer to Archery Association of Malawi (AAM).
The ceremony took place at Waliranji Trading Centre in Mchinji where AAM has set up a training facility for archers.
Park, who is a world-renowned archery instructor, said the donation was done to help AAM secretariat keep its data.
“There is need for sports disciplines to have data for their activities and also to be able to update information instantly for the growth of their sport,” said Park.
AAM has also received from the Koreans archery equipment such as bows and arrows for which general secretary, Henry Sakala, has expressed appreciation.
“In this modern age, one cannot manage without computers. We used to patronise Internet cafes to access mail or send communication. With the computer, our job has been made easier,” said Sakala.
He said AAM will now be able to store data of all archers in the country and also exchange information with counterparts in Africa and beyond.
The archery association was formed in 2012 and is now preparing to send over 30 athletes to next year’s Olympic Games in Brazil.
