Kunkuyu apologises to Blantyre City South people

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) national campaign director Moses Kunkuyu has apologised to Blantyre City South constituents five years after he relocated to Dedza South.

The former legislator expressed his remorse at Manase Township in Blantyre on Sunday when he unveiled his aspiration to return to the constituency and represent the people in the May 21 2019 Tripartite Elections under the MCP.

Addressing the gathering, Kunkuyu said he was aware that during his five-year term he was not perfect.

“That is why I offer my apologies and ask for your forgiveness,” he said.

In December 2013, while serving as minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture in the Joyce Banda administration, Kunkuyu bade farewell to the constituents and later contested in Dedza South but lost to Patrick Themu of MCP.

Asked what prompted him to return to Blantyre City South, the former Cabinet minister said people requested him to do so.

“Dedza South would have been an easy catch for me as national campaign director, but I respected the call from Blantyre City South,” he said.

During the meeting, Edward Governor, MCP shadow MP for Blantyre Malabada, urged the constituents to support Kunkuyu.
