Catholic University of Malawi law lecturer Wezi Sataya has challenged South End Primary School learners to embrace discipline for them to achieve their goals.

Speaking on Thursday in Blantyre during the South End Primary School 17th Awards Evening, she said discipline helps one to succeed in life.

Said Sataya: “I encourage learners to embrace discipline by looking after the school materials and even working hard because these are factors that contribute towards one’s success.

“Let me also commend South End Primary School for this award ceremony. The awards instil discipline in learners as they can develop a spirit of hard work.”

She encouraged the learners to work hard in the subjects they are passionate about and perform well in examinations to achieve their future ambitions.

The school’s principal Neeta Cecil said the awards seek to encourage learners and give them a platform to display their talents.

She said: “The awards are part of congratulating the learners and also helping to build their confidence by allowing them to perform in front of their parents and a big audience.”

A Grade Six learner, Jordan Kowet, who scooped position one, thanked the school’s management for organising the event, saying it has encouraged him to work hard.

“Always work hard and do something with passion and to the best of your ability,” he said.
