After a successful launch of the band in Likoma last month, the Islanders Band took their act to Chizumulu Island last weekend.

The jam-packed Baghdad Leisure Centre for the first time gave testimony to the band’s warm welcome on the twin island.

The show, which started on Saturday and ran up to Sunday, is on record to be the first real live band that Chizumulu has witnessed.

One patron from Chiteko area on the island only introduced as Arsenal Pakwawo, said he was very happy with the Islanders coming to Chizumulu.

“I can’t lie. Here in Chizumulu we never get live shows except for a few choirs and gospel artiste here and there, but their patronage is limited since they can’t perform at entertainment places like this one,” said Pakwawo.

Band manager, Tafton Kingsley Banda says he is impressed with the reception they had at Baghdad.

“I am more than impressed with the overwhelming response we got in Chizumulu. The show at Baghdad has proved that even Chizumulu is ready for live shows,” said Banda.

“Now that we have covered both islands, we intend to bring our shows to the mainland Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique,” he added.
