People of Lilongwe Kumachenga Constituency have demanded implementation of projects that their member of Parliament (MP) Marko Ching’onga promised during the May 20 2014 Tripartite Elections campaign.

Speaking during a meeting organised by National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust at Traditional Authority (T/A) Njewa’s headquarters, Abel Kumayani, who represented the area’s youth, claimed the MP made many promises.

“We need development projects that can transform our lives as promised during the campaign period,” said Kumayani.

He said the MP should prioritise the construction of a market at Njewa Trading Centre as people are walking a long distances to access basic needs.

Kango Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson Anderson Tembo said they need potable water and a health facility.

However, Ching’onga called for patience, saying some of the projects such as a market at Njewa cannot be implemented within a short period of time.

He said as MP for the area, he will ensure that his campaign promises are  fulfilled.

However, Nice district civic education officer for Lilongwe Rural, Daniel Malango, said the projects the constituents were demanding can be implemented using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is managed well.
