Lilongwe’s Portuguese Club revive Sunday entertainment

Listen to this article

After about a decade of silence and irregular entertainment shows, Lilongwe Portuguese Club is reviving and turning into a full force of entertainment, thanks to newly formed Team X1 entertainment group partnership with the club.

The two fell into partnership late last month after observing that the magnificent club, with natural vegetation, beautiful summer huts and a big swimming pool, was not being utilised to the maximum.

Speaking in an interview over the week, one of the senior members of Team X1, DJ Scarpper, said the group has taken over control of entertainment at the venue and they want to revive the fun at the club.

“It is true we are in full control of Portuguese Club. We had our first entertainment activity at a the venue a fortnight ago but we have started on a fresher note and we have lined up a series of entertainment activities this month.

“We appreciate that Lilongwe does not have enough venues for afternoon fun and looking at facilities at Portuguese Club, we feel this is the better place where fun lovers can spend their time. Again, we had to consider dry days of entertainment in Lilongwe that is why we settled for Sundays,” says DJ Scarpper.

The DJ says from this moth, the club will be hosting special entertainment activities every Sunday. The bar and swimming pool will be open and there will be music performances, disco shows or performances by Team X1 crew. There will also be various promotions to give the patrons fun at the club.

The journey begins this Sunday as the club hosts top DJs in a music mix. It will be free of charge for ladies.

Headlining the show will be DJ Scarpper, DJ Pink Panther of Power 101, DJ Flex, DJ Rubie, DJ Casper and Unnal. Apart from dancing, sports lovers will have a chance to have fun on the volleyball court and play beach soccer. Upcoming musicians and dancers will be competing in free styles.
