Limbani challenges Misanjo’s title

With convincing knockout wins in his three professional bouts, Limbani Masamba now wants a national title and has challenged Mchinji-based Charles Misanjo for the welterweight title.

Misanjo has been holding the title for the past two years, but Masamba says Misanjo’s time to keep the title in the Central Region is over.

Masamba is booming with confidence following his second knockout victory over rival Malani Kayuni on Sunday.

“I think time is right for me to now go for the title and I hereby challenge Misanjo for his title. He has had it for two years and its time it came to Blantyre.

“He is keeping it in a maize granary in Mchinji while we have a proper boxing office for medals and belts, so Misanjo wherever you are, I want you within the next month or so,” declared Masamba.

Misanjo said he is ready to face Masamba.

“It really does not feel right to be keeping this title a year after winning it. There has been no one to challenge me, so I welcome his challenge,” he said.

Namisonga Boxing Promotions, where Masamba belongs, said they will arrange the fight between the two.

“We will host it either at the end of September or early October. We would have done it early next month, but one of our top boxers [Mussa Ajidu] is fighting an international bout on September 2, so we want to put our focus on that one first,” said the stable’s managing director Charles Nkhoma on Wednesday.
