LL Police Station wins Central Region award

Lilongwe Police Station has emerged the best performing station in the Central Region in terms of crime and traffic management.

Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula told Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Monday that the station reduced crime by six percent in the year 2016.

Roadblocks such as these helped Lilongwe Police to succeed

“In 2015, Lilongwe police registered 8 120 criminal cases against 7 664 cases registered in 2016, representing six percent reduction.

He further said the station conducted frequent day and night sweeping exercises and managed to arrest many notorious criminals.

“We conducted intensive day and night foot and vehicle patrols; we mounted a lot of adhoc roadblocks around Lilongwe and we maintained cordial relations with the public through community policing where we managed to get a lot of tips-offs from the general public,” he said.

Dandaula said the station also recovered eight stolen vehicles within the year.

He said the police have since received the ‘Commissioners Trophy’ for the outstanding performance.

NKhotakota Police Station was the best performer in 2015. n

  1. What would have been nice to hear is whether the actual police men and women behind this success story have been considered for promotion or not.

Become what we are hearing is that only those who come from the Lomwe belt are the ones that are being promoted regardless of whether they are performing or not…..can we stop this please? Thanks…
