Lo, woman is being replaced

For many, beauty is defined in many ways and is never limited to one’s looks. Again, many fall in love for many reasons such as good behaviour, kindness, intelligence, wisdom and wealth. Like the saying goes: “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.” It simply vindicates the probable reasoning that everyone is bound to look beautiful depending on the fatness of a wallet, goodness and experience.

Well, women have the added advantage of enhancing their beauty through various products ranging from, facial foundations, powders, eye liners, eye shadows, lipsticks and nail polishes. They go the extra mile to add accessories such as bangles, six-inch killer heels, necklaces, earrings and ankle-chains. Some men appreciate the glitz and glamour; others have learned to live with them, yet, more, silently grumble at the expenses because trust me, most of these items are bought by the ever squeezed male who barely manages to wear his simplified outlook of a shirt, trousers, jacket and tie.

As if the above were not enough, I think women are taking the beauty step a little too further from humanity. It is as if most are not satisfied or comfortable with their natural or light makeup that they will do anything to resemble a Barbie Doll. Why, some even go to the extent of resembling owls with artificial eye lashes that unconventionally flip up and down like overly made cartoon characters. That is not all, replacements are slowly, but surely taking over feminine limbs. Many are replacing their nails with ‘claws’ or artificial ones and in the Western world, it is not unusual to see women going under the knife to replace breasts and other body parts to suit their satisfaction. If not surgery, there are enhancers that boost the appearance of breasts, to make them look firmer or larger and those specifically made for hips. As for hair pieces or extensions, there are every kind in every shape, size and length. Why, there are even closures that will replace the natural scalp to cover up natural openings. I wonder what else is out there or is in the offing for the benefit of the woman.

I have my concerns though. What has happened to the love for ourselves that we must alter beyond recognition? On whose instructions or benefit are we overstretching ourselves just so we can look and feel good? What happens after the false eye lashes, false teeth, false nails, false hips, false boobs and false hair? Are we not eradicating ourselves for a ‘better’ version of femininity? Are we not headed for wearing our entire selves against the Godly given nature?

I feel for the men, who are perpetually dealing with false physical outlooks. Would we blame them if they fled the morning after the first sleep over of marital night at the sight of the heaped worn-beauty on the floor to completely transform what merely resembles the women they first laid eyes on? These beauty overloads have to be unloaded before bedtime anyway, hence the fleeing. I feel for my sons because while theirs is the look as it comes, they are bound to fall in love with a mere shadow of a woman, who may not resemble their offsprings because of cosmetic distortion.

I ask; why does it have to be just the woman while the man walks about with confidence at what God gave him? I am afraid. n
