Luciano concert on October 19

The date for the Malawi concert of Jamaican reggae artist, Luciano has finally been set as October 19 and tickets for the event start selling this Friday, organisers have said.

The legendary reggae singer, who is also fondly known as Jah Messenger, is expected to be on an African tour starting this month and Malawi is one of the countries he will be visiting.

Luciano, born Jepther McClymont, is expected to perform at the Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) in the capital city.

Mphatso Chaluluka, who is coordinating the event, told The Nation this week that everything was finalised for the celebrated reggae icon to perform in The Warm Heart of Africa.

“Tickets are going at K7 500 and they will be available at LGC and Mibawa Cafe in Blantyre from this Friday,” said Chaluluka, adding that VIP tickets are available on special arrangement only.

He said they were yet to confirm a ticket sales spot in the Northern Region city of Mzuzu.

Meanwhile, the organisers have confirmed the list of local artists who are expected to headline the concert, including the country’s reggae giants, Black Missionaries, Blasto and Trumel.

Luciano has been invited to perform in the country by Born Afrikan, a Malawian-born reggae artist based in South Africa.

Jah Messenger is aged 49 has released 20 albums to his credit, among them Lord Give Me Strength, Moving Up, Messenger, Sweep Over My Soul, A New Day, Great Controversy and Jah is My Navigator.
