Then on Saturday May 3, the right holders of Kuyimba franchise will perform in Hillbrow at Safari Hotel in the City of Gold and wrap up their tour of the Rainbow Nation with a performance at Tijuca on May 4.

The band will be supported by Anthony Makondetsa, Moda Fumulani and Yanjanani Chumbu.

Upon return, Malawi’s premier band will be getting ready for another international tour in the UK and US. The Black Missionaries are expected to leave for performances in Glasgow and Nottingham in the UK.

The group will also perform in Dublin, Ireland before proceeding to US for a performance in Washington DC.

In an interview with The Nation, band leader Ajiru Fumulani expressed joy with the tour, saying that although they frequent South Africa, they do not take the opportunity for granted.

“If organisers keep on calling us to perform it means they have confidence in Malawian music, so this is good for Malawian music,” said Anjiru.
