Malawi Government has commended CCAP Blantyre Synod for constructing a modern secondary school, which has already opened its doors for this year’s academic year, in Mulanje

St Andrew CCAP Mission Secondary School was built with support from South Minister Presbyterian Church of United States of America, which is a sister church to St. Andrew CCAP in Mulanje.

Opening the school on Sunday, Principal Secretary responsible for higher education in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Macphail Magwira said government alone cannot satisfy educational needs of Malawi; hence, he hailed faith-based organisations and the private sector for complementing government’s efforts.

He called on students and teachers to use the new school in promoting quality education.

“The school we are opening today is no ordinary secondary school. It is a school with new, solid and magnificent buildings. Delivery of quality education requires a conducive teaching and learning environment. This school offers such a conducive environment. It has specialised rooms such as science laboratories, a library and an ICT [information, communication and technology] room. The toilets are water-borne and are in immaculate condition,” said Magwira.

Senior pastor of the South Minister Presbyterian Church the Reverend Dr. Daniel Merry told the congregation that the new school was now handed over to the local church.

“This school is totally yours. It is up to you to ruin it or utilise it for the glory of God to transform Malawians,” said Merry.

Synod moderator the Reverend Mercy Chilapula thanked South Minister Presbyterian Church for their support.
