Five Malawian companies last week showcased their tourism products at the International Tourism Travel Bourse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany.

The five were Sunbird Hotels and Resorts, Ulendo Travel Group, Malawi Travel Marketing Consortium, Wilderness Safaris and Malawian Style.

The event attracted over 170 000 holiday buyers and exhibitors from 150 countries across the globe.

Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Culture Fletcher Zenengeya, who also led the Malawi delegation, thanked the companies for participating in the event.

He said Germany and all other European markets remain a major source of tourism business for Malawi.

On his part, Malawi’s Ambassador to German Professor Isaac Lamba hailed Malawi exhibitors for raising the country’s flag higher at the event.

Lamba commended the cooperation between the public and private sector players in Malawi whose joint efforts have helped the country to produce a generic tourism DVD for major strategic international markets.
