The Malawi Paralympics Committee (MPC) has organised a fundraising gospel show at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on October 7 2012.

The aims to raise about K3 million for MPC to pay back to the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) for Malawi’s failure to participate at the 2012 London Paralympics Games.

The IPC asked MPC to refund the K2.3 million grant meant for air tickets of two blind athletes Chisomo German and Janet Shedan and their guides Faith Labana and Chiyembekezo Jamali after the trip failed due to MPC’s failure to source additional funding for the trip.

The gospel concert will feature, among other artists Grace Chinga, Allan Chirwa, Mlaka Maliro and Yasin Jenala.

MPC has since written Sports Minister Enoch Chihana, Sports Council, companies and fellow sports associations, inviting them to the show that will go at K600 per head.

“We invite you to the mega gospel show to be our guest of honour. The aim of this show is to raise funds so that we remit back the IPC grant. We are very sure that with your presence, our dream of meeting our target will become a reality,” reads the letter from MPC vice-general secretary George Luhanga to Chihana.
