United Independence Party (UIP) president Pastor Helen Singh says Malawi is losing direction and the people are fed up with the country’s leadership style.

Singh said this at a rally she addressed on Saturday at Monkey Bay in Mangochi.

She said the problems the country is facing need a visionary leader.

“Malawians are fed up. They want to see new things beginning from politicians and other development agendas not recycled politicians who keep on ill advising the government of the day in a quest to reap hefty chunks of money at the expense of the poor,” said Singh.

The UIP leader claimed that Malawians have reached a point where they do not know which direction the country has taken.

“Malawians don’t know who to trust because previous governments have duped them. Look at the cashgate and other issues! People are dying in hospitals because there are no medicines.

“Unscrupulous and greedy politicians have swept the coffers and yet they are looming around to seek your sympathy to vote for them again. I tell you to shrug them off and vote for UIP which brings solutions to all the economic decays registered in the country since 50 years to its independence and 20 years in democracy,” she said.

Singh also said she is ready to declare her assets should people vote her into office unlike other politicians who are good at taking oaths but never walk the talk.

“I want to create jobs and education for all, no matter where one comes from, whether rich or poor. We want to transform Malawians’ lives and take their lives from Pharaoh’s hands to the promised land of Canaan,” she said.
