In a clear endorsement of her talents, Malawi’s fast rising designer Alinafe Misomali was part of the designers that rocked the runway of Ghana’s biggest wedding fair.

Organised by a private radio station Joy FM, the Beauty and Bridal Fair brought together about 100 exhibitors, but a few designers were also given a role to showcase their designers on the ramp.

Said Misomali: “It’s the biggest wedding fashion exposition in Ghana, maybe even the only one. It was a four days event which ended on Monday with a fashion show in which I participated. The event is an annual bridal fair which exhibits everything wedding from dresses to decorations to car rentals. Vlisco was a sponsor so they invited me to take part to showcase, having won their fashion fund last year.”

The Accra-based designer said her participation at different fashion events presents her an opportunity to learn more.

“I represent Malawi and every fashion event that I have attended here and elsewhere is always a learning process. I like to have the pulse of what’s going on in the fashion world and through fairs like this.

“I get to see what is happening, including new trends, new developments in techniques used to execute designs, kind of details used and most importantly I get to grow my network and client base. This was my first wedding fair to attend and they sure fed the eye. I spotted so many things I’ve never seen before which I will definitely use creatively and artistically,” she said.

The designer has participated at different fashion events in Ghana and Netherlands.
