MAM joins Zigoma treatment shows

Peter Uyu Mlangeni and Great Angels Choir fundraising initiative for gospel crooner Geoffrey Zigoma to go for a skin cancer operation in Tanzania has received a boost as Music Association of Malawi (MAM) and the corporate world have joined in.

With Mlangeni and company scheduled to hold a Zigoma charity show on Sunday at Sheaffer Conference Hall in Lilongwe next Sunday, MAM president Chimwemwe Mhango has disclosed that the music body has lined up a series of shows in aid of their counterpart who urgently needs about K1 million ($6 000) to undergo machine-aided treatment not available locally.

“Gospel artists in the Central Region will meet on Wednesday at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground to map the way forward and liaise with our friends from the Southern Region,” said Mhango.

So far, politician Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Dolphins Electronics director Mike Chimwaza and Transworld Radio have already pumped in funds in the cause.

Meanwhile, Zigoma has announced the release of Ndathera Mwa Yesu album expected on the market this month.

The artist said proceeds from the release will go towards the treatment of his left ear.

“I have been in pain, but the chemotherapy treatment I am receiving at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) is helping me a lot. I thank my fellow artists for the show,” said the one-time top-selling artist.
