Man nabbed for being found in possession of medical drugs

Police in the Central Region have arrested 40 year old Willie Kampira at Chimbiya Trading Centre in Dedza for allegedly being found in possession of medical drugs and operating a clinic without a licence.

Speaking in an interview today, Central Region police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino described Kampira as a habitual offender as he was also sentenced in 2015 and fined K40 000 ($58), as well as early this year when he paid K30, 000 ($44)  on a similar offence.ARREST

Lubrino said the medical drugs, worth millions of kwacha include Artemether Lumefantrine-LA, Contrimoxole, Chloramphemine, Aminomphylline, Salbutamol, Phenobarbitone, Doxycycline,
hydrochlorathiadfe, Loflac, Rifapicin, Metronidazole, Paracetamol, Ferrow sulphate, Megnesium and Praziquartel.

According to Lubrino, police conducted a search at Kampira’s clinic in collaboration with Pharmacy, Medicines and Poisons Board following a tip-off from a well wisher.

Kampira hails from Kudemera village Traditional Authority (T/A) Kaphuka in Dedza.
