Maneb alert on exams leakage

The Malawi National Examination Board (Maneb) says it has employed new security measures to prevent examinations leakage, which has been one of the challenges affecting the country’s education sector in the recent past.

Maneb public relations officer Simeon Maganga said in an interview that more precautions are being taken to avoid a repeat of what happened last year and the years before.

“After we looked at all the challenges that affected the examinations before, we came up with new measures which include very improved security systems,” said Maganga.

He, however, did not disclose the new techniques, saying doing so would be ‘opening doors to unscrupulous people’.

“But we strongly believe that this year will be different. We have also gone across the country and conversed with various stakeholders in our efforts to ensure more security. Now all final preparations are underway,” said Maganga.

He also called for support from the general public, including the media.

Maganga said: “Consequences of examinations leakage affect the whole country. So let us work together to promote quality education across the country.”

This year’s Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC) examinations commenced yesterday.
