Manyozo says he is still a Nomad

Mighty Wanderers FC midfield workhorse Alfred Manyozo Jnr has dismissed rumour that he has dumped the club and is club-hunting in South Africa.

Manyozo, considered as the Nomads’ shield in midfield, missed the recent Fellowship Association of Malawi (Fama) quarter-final derby against Big Bullets fuelling speculation that he had dumped the Nomads.

While confirming that he is indeed in South Africa, Manyozo insisted that he is just taking a breather and will return next week to join the Nomads for pre-season training.

“I also heard that some people were saying I had quit Wanderers and that I was hunting for a team here.

“The truth is that I came here on holiday and I do not have  any intention of trying my luck with any team. I am still committed to Wanderers and will continue playing for them,” he said and expressed regret that he missed the derby.

“The derby is once again becoming a hot fixture and everybody wants to play in that game. I followed the game with keen interest on Facebook. I was bitter that we lost.

“I understand Bullets played well, but I would have loved to be part of the team,” said Manyozo.

Nomads coach Franco Ndawa said in a post-match interview that the team missed the services of Manyozo.

“Bullets dominated the midfield partly because we were missing Manyozo. We could not tick because Nafe Msasa was fighting a lone battle in the centre,” said Ndawa.
