Max Bullets FC on Saturday beat Prison United 1-0 to win the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League title and earned themselves promotion to the TNM Super League with three games TO GO.

It has been a long wait for Bullets as was evidenced from the jubilations of officials and players soon after the final whistle.

The match was played at their backyard Sedi ground in Chiradzulu.

Before the game, Bullets needed three points TO become this year’s second-tier champions for the South, and they did just that to perfection. Wongani Zulu scored the priceless goal in the first half.

They now have 88 points from 37 games played whereas Cobbe Barracks are second with 74 points from 36 games. As we went to press, both teams had games on Sunday.

Owner of Max Bullets, Maxwell Kapanda, said he was excited with the victory.

“First, I should thank God for showing us the way. We are not taking this for granted. I am overwhelmed with the way we have qualified for the [TNM] Super League. I will be able to disclose our plans within the week but for now, Max Bullets is there at long last,” he said.

SRFA league vice-general secretary Kingsley Simbeye said competition was stiff, especially in the top four positions.

“Teams could overlap each other and whoever lost a game, paved the way for the other. But Max Bullets maintained their status for about five weeks,” he said. n
