Still I Sise, a non-governmental organisation, has donated a K1.2 million physiotherapy equipment to Mchinji District Hospital.

Speaking on Saturday during the handover, Still I Rise founder Andida Mando said they donated the equipment because the facility does not have any.

“When I learned that the Physiotherapy Department has physiotherapists, we decided to mobilise resources to buy the equipmement,” he said.

Mchinji District Hospital physiotherapy head of department Temweka Chingaipe commended the organisation for the donation.

“The department is in need of such equipment as we were treating patients without any machine. I appeal to other well-wishers to help the department with more machines,” she said.

Mchinji District Council chief administrator Raymond Nkhonya has asked the department to take care of the equipment.

“We expect the department to take care of it to benefit many people,” he said.

Still I Rise mobilised the resources through its weekly aerobics sessions where they charge K1 000 per person.

One of the people who contributed the money, Jonas Zulu, said he wanted to help people under physiotherapy to get full treatment at the hospital.

“It was not good to see patients struggling to recover without equipment at the facility,” he said.

The equipment comprises tread mill, stairs and parallel bars.
