MCP Chanco Wing calls for new leadership
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) political wing at Chancellor College has called on Malawians to consider voting into power people not interested to unleash vengeance and who have a clean corruption record.
MCP Chanco Wing president Kambani Banda said, at this moment, Malawi needs leaders who would focus on building the country not fighting political battles.
Banda said Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) Peter Mutharika and United Democratic Party’s (UDF) Atupele Muluzi have issues with President Joyce Banda; hence, their first task once they take over government will be to fight their political enemies other than developing the country.
“We need to look at some of the factors that are making this country fail. Leaders spend their time avenging than developing this country. The current leaders of DPP, UDF and People’s Party (PP) have the same mentality and that is derailing the country’s development,” he said.
He also said all the three parties have a checkered history of corruption.
“UDF, DPP and PP cannot explain the source of their money. UDF and DPP are benefiting from the money that the then leadership stole from the people of Malawi while PP is benefiting from the money it is stealing now.
“It is only MCP whose source of money is very clear. These people were given a chance to change things, but they failed. Now, let’s try new people with new vision,” he said.
Banda then called upon Malawians to trust MCP presumptive presidential nominee Dr Lazarus Chakwera because of his clean record.
Sorry to day but you are quiet wrong because both Peter and Atupele are not with bad records but the leaders before them so lets not right bias articles that don’t even appreciate what Dr Bakali and Dr Bingu have done, so our problem is also not appreciating and having a Stone Age mentality. Maybe Atupele, but Peter, who was in the forefront of kuwoletsa thupi la Bingu chifukwa chofuna u president if he was able to do that to his own brother who loved him to the extent of spending our meagre resources on some fake treason case just to pave way for him ndiye ife adzatitani? He failed Malawians big time when his brother gave him ministerial posts. What more do you want? He bought govt property with song ndiye akawina pano agula lake Malawi pa 50,000MK.
I think the UDF, DPP and PP have committed serious financial crimes. How are they funded? We need a strong piece of legislation to regulate party funding in Malawi. Secondly, the MCP might not be embroiled in any financial crimes but this is a party that killed so many Malawians…And it would be illogical for us just to focus on the financial crimes committed by the UDF, DPP and PP…we should also tackle that in discourse….
I am with you Kambani Banda from Chancellor College. We are not against people as in a person per se but we are more interested in voting for new blood and in this case Dr Chakwera comes in handy. We have not heard about the alleged money which Muluzi Senior stole from government coffers and in the process committing murder in the Malawian hospitals; i mean babies and the old die in our hospitals as a result of lack of medication that money could have gone along way . Ever since Dr Muthalika left the scene we have never heard anything to explain this issue of billions of money concerning ATUPERE’S FATHER, running the affairs of government requires huge sum of money. My question to Atupere is: what is his take on this pending case at the High court concerning his father, i know our Judicial System has not reached where we want it to be in terms of Independence that is the reason a president could pronounce at a public rally that so and so shall rot in jail knowing they could influence so and so a judge. To support my argument Kasambara is still in custody as of today because of our weak Judicial System we claim to be democratic yes maybe to foreigners but we treat locals like trash. Why should donors keep on giving us money when we keep on squandering what we are given willy nilly! Now there’s another cash gate scandal people who were involved are being shielded persecuting instead Raphael Kasambara with a no evidence charge sheet which does not hold any water! At the same time Joyce Banda is busy on a campaigning trail fighting to be elected as a president again. What a joke! People please give these things of managing a government to people who could manage the affairs well times have changed.

Yes thats very true,malawi needs new blood like Dr Chakwera. We are tired of recycled politicians who cannot bring any change, but Chakwera is the real deal
Can someone define what it means by new blood? MCP DPP UDF PP to me have new leaders and all except for PP leader will be contesting for the first time in presidential elections. What else is needed to make these people new? Malawians must not be confused between a new kid in the block and new blood as far as politics is concerned. New blood in politics simply means new leadership and not necessarily new faces. By design we are all born politicians but what is required is being active at a certain moment in time. Food for thought to MCP wing! Will Chakwera not prosecute cashgate culprits once in power? If not then my vote is not so cheap! Whichever party that promises not to punish cashgate culprits is dangerous to Malawians. Failing to punish cashgaters is a good indicator of how corrupt a party will be once in power. Finally, I was of the opinion that the Chanco wing of MCP should have lobbied for youth development rather than for having new blood in their party. Time has come for us to ask for development directly from our leaders and not indirectly like new blood first then development later.
