Millennium Villages Project (MVP) team leader Dr. Andrew Daudi on Friday led communities in planting trees at Mwandama Village, Traditional Authority Mlumbe in Zomba.

Daudi said planting trees is one of MVP’s activities and part of its interventions in the area.

“[Protecting the] Environment is one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the State President Bingu wa Mutharika led by example to open the tree planting season,” he said.

Daudi said MVP set aside K7.4 million ($44 311) to source the trees and planned to plant at least 100 000 species at Nachikwangwala Hill in the area.
