Miner to ship 60 tonnes sample to Australia

Canadian-based mineral and exploration company, Mkango Resources Limited, through its subsidiary Lancaster Exploration Limited, has announced a bulk sampling campaign at Songwe Hill Rare Earth project.

The miner is expected to ship 60 tonnes sample to Australia laboratories for analysis.

In a press statement published on Monday, the company has announced that it is now carrying out public awareness campaign to communicate progress of the project and explaining the bulk sampling programme.

“The metallurgical test work is an essential component of the exploration process in order to complete the definitive feasibility study, including the design of a processing plant for the Songwe Hill project,” reads the statement.

It has so far asked any queries on the bulk sampling programme to be forwarded to the director in the Department of Mines and the company’s management.

The company which was awarded a two-year licence renewal for exclusive prospecting is into exploration of rare earth elements and associated minerals at Songwe Hill in Phalombe District.

The study is scheduled for completion next year. n
