Nankhumwa was responding to a question in Parliament on Tuesday during question time. Lilongwe City West member of Parliament (MP) Aggrey Masi (Democratic Progressive Party-DPP) wanted the ministry to consider rehabilitating the town hall which is presently in a bad state.

He said as much as the hall has a significant historical background to the city, it was the responsibility of the city council to take up the challenge and rehabilitate it.

Nankhumwa said: “Indeed the hall is in a bad state, but it is the responsibility of the Lilongwe City Council to rehabilitate it as it helps the city to generate revenue by hosting functions.”

He then advised the MP to raise the issue with the council, adding it would likely respond positively.n
