Last year, he clocked 3:06:10hrs.

His compatriot, Missi Kathumba, who was having his first feel of the 94.7km race, took an overall 2 343 position, but outclassed a field of 339 contestants in the newcomers group.

The two participated in the international race courtesy of Illovo Sugar (Malawi) Limited which rewarded them for finishing fourth and third respectively during the 2014 Illovo Classic Cycling Race.

Blantyre Cycling Club president Dyton Chimwaza has described Misolo’s time improvement as a step in the right direction for local cyclists’ success on the international stage.

“Time improvement is great achievement for cyclists in competitions and Misolo has just done that. Kathumba also has to be applauded for beating over 300 contestants in his group. We are proud of their achievements,” Chimwaza said. n
