A list released by organisers shows the North will be represented by  Nyembezi Mwanza, Emma Manda and Esther Banda while the South presents Madalo Chimalizeni, Ellen Chiwaula, Takondwa Kasasu, Hilda Chiwembo and Alinafe Chisale. The crew will tussle with Miss Matofoto Lilongwe Constance Kachoka, Zainab Chimphanje, and Halima Assad from the host region.

In an interview on Tuesday, the pageant’s national director Florence Banda said the stage is set and the contestants are ready to outclass each other.

“We are just waiting for the big day. All contestants have confirmed and we expect a tight competition. All regions are contributing beautiful candidates and we expect a tight competition we have never witnessed since founding of the pageant,” said Banda, who is the reigning queen.

When she finally hands over the crown, her successor will walk away with a live goat and an undisclosed cash prize. But to do so, the queens will have to prove themselves worth in various wears.

Pumping up the vibes at the event will be celebrated musician Soldier Lucius Banda. Minister of Tourism and Culture Daniel Liwimbi will be the guest of honour.
